Bio
Aggelos Kravaritis started playing guitar at the age of six.
In the years that followed he has never stopped expanding his knowledge and consolidating it professionally.
He graduated from the University of West London with honors, with a specialisation in electric guitar.
He has earned a classical guitar soloist diploma and a degree in classical harmony.
Even though he also holds an Engineering degree from the University of Patras, Aggelos Kravaritis's love for music has led him to dedicate his life, both personally and
professionally, to music performance and teaching.
In his endless pursuit of knowledge Aggelos has had
the great fortune of meeting and attending seminars by some of the most prominent figures in the guitar world such as: Scott Henderson, John Ambercrombie, Pat Martino, Mike Stern and John Scofield.
Moreover, he has taken a training course in the Alexander technique, which helps musicians and performers practice more effectively and is taught at some of the best music universities in the world, and has incorporated these tools and methods in his own teaching.
Since 2004 he has taught classical and electric guitar as well as modern music theory at various conservatories in Athens.
He has taught hundreds of students as a visiting professor
at various institutions and has been invited to perfom as a soloist at guitar festivals all around Greece, of which some of the most famous are:
1st, 2nd and 3d Guitar Festival of Peloponnese,
1st and 2nd Guitar Festival of Macedonia
1st Guitar Festival of the Ionian Islands,
33rd Guitar Festival of Volos.
Guided by his conviction that music is one of the greatest forms of self-expression, he treats every student as an individual with a distinct, wholesome personality,
firmly believing that music only shapes such personalities.
He has combined all the afforementioned approaches and tools to create his Personalised Guitar Programme.
This innovative teaching approach expedites student development.
As a result Aggelos's students have been successful in attaining degrees and diplomas certified by the Greek Ministry of Culture, degrees from foreign Music Universities such as RSL-Rockschool and have participated in guitar competitions in Greece, often winning first prize.
Aggelos is an active musician, on stage as well as in the studio.
His credits include collaborations with prominent Greek artists such as Aleka Kanellidou, Odysseas Tsakalos and Labrini Karakosta among others.
Of special note is his collaboration with Patrick Cambell-Lyons, founding member of the 60’s group Nirvana (UK), who entrusted Aggelos with his track “Melanie Blue”.
Aggelos's reinvention of the track as a multi-layered guitar arrangement was released worldwide by Universal Music.
He composed the music for the show "ItinaiR" by Mixdoor Project (Outdoor-Indoor), a collaborative, multicultural initiative bringing together proponents of diverse arts
from various European countries as part of the Aeschylea 2016 festival.
He also provided the musical score for "Disabled Models", a show that was performed at the International Street Theatre Festival, and was a member of a quartet playing jazz standards at the 2nd Jazz Festival of Maroussi.
Aggelos is a founding member of Moonlight Overdive,
a band that performs the music of the legendary band The Doors.
Through their faithful reproduction and creative adaptations of well-known Doors tracks, Moonlight Overdrive have become an established live act.
He has also co-founded the pop-rock band Jo Black, serving as their guitarist as well as arranger.
Aggelos is also a member of the pop-rock band "Caligo", a creative five-piece group that focuses on writing and performing their own material.
Caligo have released one LP and are already hard at work on the next.
